~moon/emoji@muratyes! i need to add the UI for adding custom emojis, but the backend already supports it @malcolm
~moon/emoji@tinkeredthinkinglove this idea. #emoji creativity is majorly lacking.
~moon/channel-requests@nutzeeerin the overshoot channel there is a manual for each country on how to avoid the overshoot day as an individual person. you can then create a private subchannel with a set of rules that allow you to track your progress
~moon/feature-requests@tinkeredthinking@murat -Invite links to specific channels/subchannels/etc that can be sent to people outside of Spiel -Invite links to private channel, IE. Only invited people can see/join/contribute to say... a reading/discussion club. Invites for in Spiel members and sendable to people who aren't on Spiel yet. -Edit sub channel name? (Autocorrect flubbed my efforts at last moment) -FYI Clicking on an image in mobile made the image inescapable -FYI Reactions to posts are not available everywhere. -I'd love to be able to put a "confidence score" on my own message. I.E. some sort of percentage that telegraphs "I'm like 70% in agreement with what I'm saying". Could lead to some really funny ironies, ie. extreme tone, but 2% confidence/agreement with own statement. Perhaps something that's only viewable with a click. Perhaps low scores would get fewer eyeballs. -Evergreen Channel message: If I create a channel, I want to write a little description of it, but perhaps also an editable banner that everyone sees when they visit the channel again. Like a "current status".. Could perhaps be used as a 'summary of discussion', ie. 'currently we are talking about PG's essay on Money'. Something that can be used as a quick reference to answer the question of "what's going on in this channel right now?" -Message View: click on specific message to get a view of just that one message, divorced from it's visual context, and presented in a way that indicates that it's obviously a message on spiel. thinking about cross-posting. Screenshot works, but wanna screenshot something that's definitely "SPIEL".
~moon/feature-requests@AntiNoirRequest for the map to be a pop-up toggle instead of it being on the screen all the time (or at least take less real-estate)...I don't always pay attention to the left 30% of my screen because of it
~moon/feature-requests@tinkeredthinkingtotally agree. Map is a bird's-eye-view, which is only really pertinent when you're looking to move around globally.
[[tt]]@tinkeredthinkingdoes this get a tt tag without the actual tag
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group@tinkeredthinkingHello all. If you've found this chat room for the Tinkered Thinking reading group, this isn't the actual reading group! It's just an example of a channel in Spiel. Feel free to post/comment in here if you want. Recommend some essays or books that you'd love to see us dive into. Otherwise, a more 'official' invite to the Reading Group space will be forth coming in a little while. Stay tuned on Twitter, but feel free to poke around here on Spiel!
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group@tinkeredthinkingI'm thinking of starting with William Deresiewicz's essay "Leadership and Solitude". It covers a lot of themes that I imagine will be pertinent to later material. One thing I'd like to see is cross-text sub channels, where we can create sub channels within the reading group that relate specific texts. So imagine a channel for "Leadership and Solitude" and a channel for Paul Graham's essay on 'Writing' and then a third sub channel that is about both of them together
~moon/feature-requests@tinkeredthinking-Link multiple map polygons as a single channel: for instance, let's say I manage half a dozen beehives across a county. I'd like to draw a tiny shape around each beehive, and connect them all so I can write notes to myself, and then of course have each one as a sub channel for hive-specific info. -fyi on desktop, not sure how to 'follow' a channel. I created the tinkered thinking reading group but can't figure out how to follow it... maybe I'm just being an idiot.

~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group@tinkeredthinking@murat. here's an example of that "evergreen/banner" message that I mentioned in feature requests. This message will be unseeable if people keep posting in this channel...
~moon/feature-requests@tinkeredthinking-Channel shapes in the map area should lightly 'flash' when a message occurs in them. Just imagine how beautiful that'll look when there are thousands of channels and thousands of people talking in them. It'll be like earth at night, but like a lightning storm. Might be best a a toggled feature haha. But in the beginning as people join it'll be really satisfying to watch as the flickers grow/intensify.

~moon/feature-requests@tinkeredthinkingcould also add to the FOMO factor when a potential user visits for the first time. Like whoahhh. Shit be goin' down here...
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group/Reading_Suggestions@tinkeredthinkingPOST YOUR IDEAS FOR WHAT WE SHOULD READ IN THIS SUBCHANNEL
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group@tinkeredthinkingHey, this channel now has a sub channel called "Reading Suggestions", if you have a suggestion, post it there. https://beta.spiel.com/~moon/Tinkered%20Thinking%20Reading%20Group/Reading%20Suggestions Not sure how to link to the sub channel in app...
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group/Reading_Group_Structure@tinkeredthinkingRight now the plan is to have a new sub channel for each new text, and then within the channel for the particular text we are talking about, there will be a minimum of TWO subchannels, one for 'Content' analysis and discussion and one for 'Writing' to analyze the writing style. If you have any other ideas or requests in addition to this basic structure, please post them in this channel.
~moon/Tinkered_Thinking_Reading_Group@tinkeredthinkingThis channel also has a sub channel called "Reading Group Structure" with a short summary of the plan what the discussion will be organized. If you have ideas about it, pleas post them there!
~moon/Xanadu@TommyLegendary was Xanadu where Kubla Khan decreed his stately pleasure dome. Today, almost as legendary is Florida's Xanadu, world's largest private pleasure ground. Here, on the deserts of the Gulf Coast, a private mountain was commissioned and successfully built. One hundred thousand trees, twenty thousand tons of marble are the ingredients of Xanadu's mountain. Contents of Xanadu's palace: paintings, pictures, statues, the very stones of many another palace - a collection of everything so big it can never be catalogued or appraised, enough for ten museums - the loot of the world. Xanadu's livestock: the fowl of the air, the fish of the sea, the beast of the field and jungle. Two of each, the biggest private zoo since Noah. Like the pharaohs, Xanadu's landlord leaves many stones to mark his grave. Since the pyramids, Xanadu is the costliest monument a man has built to himself. Here in Xanadu last week, Xanadu's landlord was laid to rest, a potent figure of our century, America's Kubla Khan - Charles Foster Kane.
~tt@murathey @tinkeredthinking, with the new UI you place a channel on the map *after* you created it FYI
