@nutzeeerCould it be possible that channels can also be a world map? like when you click the memebase channel it can also be geographically divided. e.g. by country or just to organize stuff?
@nutzeeerhaving country names available as channel shapes could make country specific channels. overlaying a graphic instead of text onto a channel could show statistics
@nutzeeerthough i will have to think more to have ideas for this site. It really requires a change to have a website that everyone can edit (and is not wikipedia).
@murat@nutzeeer good ideas! yes, subchannels being integrated into map concepts (where a subchannel has to be *inside* its parent on the map) is next on my list of todos
@tinkeredthinking@murat
-Invite links to specific channels/subchannels/etc that can be sent to people outside of Spiel
-Invite links to private channel, IE. Only invited people can see/join/contribute to say... a reading/discussion club. Invites for in Spiel members and sendable to people who aren't on Spiel yet.
-Edit sub channel name? (Autocorrect flubbed my efforts at last moment)
-FYI Clicking on an image in mobile made the image inescapable
-FYI Reactions to posts are not available everywhere.
-I'd love to be able to put a "confidence score" on my own message. I.E. some sort of percentage that telegraphs "I'm like 70% in agreement with what I'm saying". Could lead to some really funny ironies, ie. extreme tone, but 2% confidence/agreement with own statement. Perhaps something that's only viewable with a click. Perhaps low scores would get fewer eyeballs.
-Evergreen Channel message: If I create a channel, I want to write a little description of it, but perhaps also an editable banner that everyone sees when they visit the channel again. Like a "current status".. Could perhaps be used as a 'summary of discussion', ie. 'currently we are talking about PG's essay on Money'. Something that can be used as a quick reference to answer the question of "what's going on in this channel right now?"
-Message View: click on specific message to get a view of just that one message, divorced from it's visual context, and presented in a way that indicates that it's obviously a message on spiel. thinking about cross-posting. Screenshot works, but wanna screenshot something that's definitely "SPIEL".
@AntiNoirRequest for the map to be a pop-up toggle instead of it being on the screen all the time (or at least take less real-estate)...I don't always pay attention to the left 30% of my screen because of it
@tinkeredthinkingtotally agree. Map is a bird's-eye-view, which is only really pertinent when you're looking to move around globally.
@tinkeredthinking-Link multiple map polygons as a single channel: for instance, let's say I manage half a dozen beehives across a county. I'd like to draw a tiny shape around each beehive, and connect them all so I can write notes to myself, and then of course have each one as a sub channel for hive-specific info.
-fyi on desktop, not sure how to 'follow' a channel. I created the tinkered thinking reading group but can't figure out how to follow it... maybe I'm just being an idiot.
@tinkeredthinking-Channel shapes in the map area should lightly 'flash' when a message occurs in them. Just imagine how beautiful that'll look when there are thousands of channels and thousands of people talking in them. It'll be like earth at night, but like a lightning storm. Might be best a a toggled feature haha. But in the beginning as people join it'll be really satisfying to watch as the flickers grow/intensify.

@tinkeredthinkingcould also add to the FOMO factor when a potential user visits for the first time. Like whoahhh. Shit be goin' down here...
⥂ ~moon@kpaxle#feature-requests retain position in the feed - when new messages come in, don't automatically scroll user position to bottom (idk if this is only happening for me but i'm trying to catch up on earlier convos here and keep getting pulled down to current)
@borisI want #kudos to be on the moon map!Kudos to @murat for magic handling of the return key.
At the end of a line I can hit return and get line breaks.
And then, magically, I can just hit the shift key to actually post with return.
⥂ ~moon@AntiNoirAs this is #beta, best that everyone coming in to record any bugs, #feature-requests and more by tagging the relevant channels, and then we can filter out the overall moon conversation by ggoing to the channels (acts as a great filter!)

@thatfiggersIs there a way to delete subchannels under my profile? If I misspelled something or accidentally created a subchannel at the wrong level of the hierarchy I'm not sure how to fix it.
@thatfiggersUse case: I get into a conversation with some buds. We realize ten minutes in that this would make a great subchannel. But we didn't know when we started that it would go that way. We'd like that initial conversation to be part of the new channel we just made. Is there a way to retroactively tag messages to go into a subchannel that didn't exist when they were first sent?
@murat@thatfiggers would it be suficient to cc all the original posts to the new channel, such that the originals stay where they are? from a governance perspective it's easier so you don't delete messages on behalf of others
⥂ ~moon@andrewWhen I drag an image onto the chat, it just opens it in a new window (default chrome logic), instead of uploading it as an attachment. #feature-requestsAnyway I just wanted to say that this feature is awesome.
@andrewI typed a draft message, but then quickly wanted to jump to a subchannel to reference something from there in my message. When I came back, my message draft was gone :(loving this app so far <3
@murat@faun was just a guess. I also see commented-out script tags, maybe some of them were needed? IDK just throwing random guesses at you. also haha nice title choice:
@faunIt traces back to a simple RNG that now erroneously returns a negative number.I'll have to change the RNG, then. I guess that means we'll never get to return to the place that used to be there.
